In celebration of the tenth anniversary of the Avon Gorge and Downs Wildlife Project we were asked recently to produce a special celebratory poster, using stunning photography of the wildlife found in the area.
The Avon Gorge and Downs Wildlife Project was originally launched by David Bellamy in October 1999, and over the last 10 years has become widely recognised for its outstanding conservation and education work.
The Avon Gorge is an amazing place for wildlife. It supports 27 nationally scarce and rare plant species, making it one of the most important botanical sites in the UK. It is also home to nesting peregrine falcons, rare moths and bats. The Downs are known for their spectacular wildflower meadows.
Over the last 10 years the project has worked hard to conserve and restore the rich array of habitats on the Gorge and Downs.
We worked closely with our client to get the right mix of imagery for the poster, and were able to create a double-sided design that used the powerful photography to full effect on one side, in the hope the recipient would pin the poster up, whilst for side two we designed an elegant yet striking timeline showing the key milestones throughout the ten year history of the project.
Following successful completion of the creative aspect of the project we then managed the print side of things using our ‘green’ print partner Burleigh Press. Burleigh’s 'eco print manager' Keith looked after the print production process and Burleigh printed this with vegetable-based inks onto a recycled paper (FSC certified) and as always delivered a superb job on time.
